“All too often we stay in relationships that don’t line up with the love we know we deserve,” says first time author, advocate, and domestic abuse survivor Stephanie Strickland. Strickland is grateful to be picking up the pieces and finding joy after she survived years of domestic abuse. Finding peace is not just cliche’ for her, but she is actually free of the stronghold that gripped her life for many years.

Strickland experienced domestic abuse from her husband of many years, and after going from trauma to triumph, she decided to share her story in her debut book, Finding Peace Within. She shares how she spent many years masking her struggle and hiding her truth. Her mission is to reach other women who may be living the life she now has freedom from. “Don’t hide your truth. Abuse is not your fault,” she exclaims.

With the release of this empowering book, Strickland has been speaking and encouraging domestic abuse victims to break the cycle of insecurity and to fight for the life that God promised them. Throughout the pages of her book, Strickland is frank about what she experienced and how she remained in the situation for years. However, within the pages of her book, her plea to victims is to stop self-blaming and feeling as if they deserve to be abused. She also wants victims to remove the shame and know that domestic abuse can happen to anyone. There are no specific requirements for becoming a victim, but victims should know that help is available and she urges anyone who is being abused, whether physically, emotionally, verbally, or financially, to seek help immediately.
